Camping, Hiking & Biking on Lake Superior

In late July we loaded up our car with coolers, hiking poles, camping gear, and bikes and met our friends for a three day camping trip on the North Shore of Lake Superior. We were lucky to get a coveted cart-in site at Split Rock State Park, as this is a beautiful destination. This park not only had access to the Superior Hiking Trail, but it also had many miles of biking and a mountain bike park. The weather was gorgeous but the flies and mosquitoes were thick which is typical for this time of year.

Getting our gear up to our site was part of the fun

Beautiful breezy views of Lake Superior and Split Rock Light House from our cart-in camp site

We hiked 9 miles of the rugged Superior Hiking Trail

Split Rock State Park’s bike and hiking trails’ stunning views

Split Rock Wilds mountain bike trail had many miles to explore and easy to difficult levels

Easy green routes were fun
